What we fix, install and maintain

The territory, measured in drive time

Everything Cook’s does starts at 37 Fairmont Ln in Palm Coast. From the yard there, Palm Coast is a short hop, St. Augustine and Ormond Beach are under forty minutes up or down the coast, and Palatka is fifty minutes inland along the St. Johns.

The second ring takes a little over an hour: Orange Park and Jacksonville to the north. The third ring is the one that surprises people. Gainesville and Ocala are roughly two hours west, Lake City is beyond that, and Live Oak, on the Suwannee, is the far end of the map at about 150 miles.

Those distances are not a problem to apologize for. They are the reason the company is organized the way it is: trucks are stocked for a full day away from the shop, routes are built by market rather than by whoever called first, and the on-call technician for a given night is assigned by region.

What stays the same at every pin

A few things don’t change with the ZIP code.

  • The phone is answered by a person, all day and all night. A call at midnight is dispatched the same way as a call at noon, and there is no surcharge for the hour.
  • Lennox is the brand we recommend first. Cook’s is a Lennox dealer, with the Healthy Climate and Ultimate Comfort System lines at the center of what we install. We repair Carrier, Bryant, Trane and the rest all the same.
  • Jerry and Sean are real. Jerry handles the sales conversation for new equipment; Sean leads the technicians. Their first names show up in reviews from across the territory because they are the people doing the work, not a marketing device.
  • Estimates on new systems are free, and financing is available with low monthly payments. Satisfaction is guaranteed on the work.

What changes, and why the local sites exist

The coast and the interior ask different things of a system. A condenser in Crescent Beach or on the Ormond Beach barrier island is fighting salt. A heat pump outside Live Oak or Lake City sees more real freeze nights than one in Palm Coast ever will. Gainesville’s housing runs older and more varied than the subdivisions of Clay County. The market sites are where that detail lives: which neighborhoods we’re in weekly, how long the drive is from Fairmont Lane, which problems come up most.

Homes and businesses both

Residential work is the heart of the company, but Cook’s also repairs, maintains and installs commercial equipment: rooftop units, split systems and the maintenance contracts that keep a restaurant or a clinic from finding out about a failure on a Saturday. A business with sites in more than one of our markets can deal with one office for all of them, which is one of the quieter advantages of a single company covering a large map.

First questions people ask the main office

If every market has its own website, which one should I use?

The one for the county you live in. Those sites carry the local drive times, the neighborhoods we work and the problems specific to that area. This site exists for anyone who wants to know who Cook’s is before they book, and for businesses with locations in more than one market.

Is Cook's a franchise with a local licensee in each town?

No. It is one family-owned company with one headquarters in Palm Coast. Expect the same dispatch board, the same price list and the same standards whether the truck is in Ocala or Palm Coast.

Does the 866 number go to the same place from every market?

Yes. One number, one dispatch, answered around the clock. Tell us your town and the call is routed to whichever technician is covering that part of the territory that day.

Why would a Palm Coast company drive to Live Oak?

Because customers there asked, kept asking, and told their neighbors. The territory grew the way most family businesses grow: one referral at a time, until it made sense to plan routes around it rather than treat it as a favor.
